The 2016 Giro d'Italia will be 99th running of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The Giro will start in Apeldoorn on 6 May with an individual time trial, and continue with two other stages in the Netherlands, both between Nijmegen and Arnhem. Then, after a race day, there will be 18 further stages to reach the finish on 29 May. These stages are principally in Italy, although two stages take place partly in France.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Giro d'Italia 2016 )〕 ==Route and stages== Details about the start of the Giro were unveiled on 26 June 2015. It was confirmed the Netherlands would hold its third ''Grande Partenza'' (英語:Big Start) of the Giro. Stage 9 was announced at a press conference in London on 7 September 2015 and stage 13 was confirmed at a press conference on 21 September 2015. The remainder of the route for the 2016 Giro d'Italia was unveiled by race director Mauro Vegni on 5 October 2015. It contained three individual time trial stages. There were three stages defined as mountainous, two of which had summit finishes: Stage 19 (to Risoul) and Stage 20 (to Sant'Anna di Vinadio). Stages 6, 10 and 16, although classified medium-mountain, finished at Roccaraso, Sestola and Andalo, respectively. Stage 15 also ended on a climb – it was a difficult uphill time trial to Alpe di Siusi/Seiseralm. The organizers included three rest days. When compared to the previous year's race, the race was shorter and contained one more rest day and two more individual time trials. After the start in the Netherlands, two stages started or finished outside Italy, both times visiting France. Stage 19 ended in Risoul, whilst stage 20 started in Guillestre.
